Welcome to my website! My name is Marty P. Jordan and I am an Assistant Professor in political science at Michigan State University (MSU). I teach graduate and undergraduate courses for the Department of Political Science at MSU, previously taught at Hope College (2016-2017), and served as the managing editor of the American Journal of Political Science under editorial teams at Michigan State Univeristy and American University.
My research broadly focuses on policy processes, political institutions, and public administration in the U.S. states and localities. I am interested in why policy actors make the choices they do. I examine the political, economic, social, and institutional factors that condition individuals (e.g., legislators, administrators) or interest groups’ decisions to pursue policy change. And I evaluate the outcomes and feedback loops of a policy within and across governmental jurisdictions. I pay special attention to social, tax, welfare, economic development, disaster, morality, and electoral administration policies.
